Yukon Leaves for 8 inch Cuff

Construction:  Top Down with 5 needles.

Cuff:    8 inches

Calculated Cuff Measurement:  7.5 inches.

Gauge:     8 stitches per inch

Total Stitches:    60

Rib Stitches:      60; Rib Repeat:  2 sts.

Heel Style:    Band;  Width:    Standard;  Stitch:  Sl 1 K 1

Toe Style:    Standard;  Toe Shape:    Standard

Needle Size:  US 1 / 2.25 mm

 

To knit a larger sock, an extra purl stitch can be added in at the end of each pattern repeat.  Cast on 64 stitches to accommodate this extra stitch.  The resultant sock will fit a larger ankle.

 

 

Lace Pattern:

 

This pattern calls for a repeating motif of 15 stitches beginning on motif stitch 1.

Pattern for (In the Round Knitting

 

Rnd 1:  and all uneven number rounds—Knit

 

Rnd 2:  P1, K3, (yo, K1) twice, ssk, K3, K2 tog, K1, P1  (repeat around)

 

Rnd 4:  P1, (K3, yo,) twice,  K1, ssk, K1, K2 tog. K1, P1  (repeat around)

 

Rnd 6:  P1, K3, yo, K5, yo, K1, sl—K2 tog—psso, K1,  P1 (repeat around)

 

Rnd 8:  P1, K1, ssk, K3, K2 tog, (k1, yo) twice, K3, P1 (repeat around)

 

Rnd 10:  P1, K1, ssk, K1, K2 tog, K1, (yo, K3) twice, P1 (repeat around)

 

Rnd 12:  P1, K1, K3 tog, K1, yo, K5, yo, K3, P1 (repeat around)

 

Repeat Rows 1 - 12

 

Ribbing and Leg:

 

Cast on 60 stitches.  Join in a ring being careful not to twist. Mark join as the beginning of the round and center of heel.  Divide stitches over 4 needles.  Begin knitting with your desired ribbing pattern and knit circularly for approximately 2 inches.   Knit one round even.   You now have 60 stitches.  Divide evenly across needles.  (15, 15, 15, 15).  Beginning with Needle 1 and selected motif, knit leg stitches until desired leg height is reached.

 

 

Begin Heel:

 

NOTE:  Heel is worked in rows on 30 stitches.

 

Heel Pattern: 

Row 1  *Slip 1, k1  repeat across from *

Row 2  Slip 1, purl across

 

Working on heel stitches only, knit in pattern until you have completed 18 heel flap rows.  End with a purl row.

 

 

Begin Band Shaping:

 

Row 1:  Sl 1, K10, K2 tog, K4, SSK, K11

Rows 2, 4, 6, 8:  Sl 1, Purl across

Row 3:  Sl 1, K9, K2 tog, K4, SSK, K10

Row 5:  Sl 1, K8, K2 tog, K4, SSK, K9

Row 7:  Sl 1, K7, K2 tog, K4, SSK, K8

 

22 stitches remain.

 

 

Turn Heel as follows:

 

Row 1:  Sl 1, K12 sts, SSK, turn

Row 2:  Sl 1, P6 sts, P2 tog, turn

Row 3:  Sl 1, K6, SSK, turn

Row 4:  Sl 1, P6, P2 tog, turn

 

Repeat rows 3 and 4, until 6 stitches remain.  End with a purl row. 

 

Knit one-half of the remaining heel stitches.  Next, beginning with Needle 1, knit the remaining heel

stitches and pick up and knit 12 stitches from the heel edge.  Knit needles 2 and 3 in pattern.  With

needle 4, pick up and knit 12 stitches from the remaining heel edge, knit the remaining heel stitches.

(15, 15, 15, 15).

 

Sock Foot:

 

Continue knitting in stockinette on needles 1 and 4 and in pattern on needle 2 and 3 until you are approximately 1 1/2 to 2 inches from the top of your longest toe.

 

Shape Toe:

 

Rnd 1:  

Needle 1:  Knit until the last 3 sts, K2 tog, K1

Needle 2:  K1, SSK, knit around.

Needle 3:  Knit until the last 3 stitches, K2 tog, K1

Needle 4:  K1, SSK, knit around.

Rnd 2:   Knit around

 

Continue in this manner until you have approximately 24 stitches remaining or until sock has your desired toe shape.  Graft toe closed.
